Belvédère

Belvédère sits at 1,806 feet along the Route Napoléon, facing due west (270°), with the land dropping 842 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. To the northwest and west-northwest, three water features come into view: le grand Canal at 0.7 mi, La Romanche at 1.0 mi, and a Bassin de rétention at 1.5 mi, all sitting between roughly 946 and 977 feet in elevation. Farther out to the southwest and west-southwest, the terrain rises sharply toward Col de la Chal (2.3 mi, 3,912 ft) and Fau Cuchet (2.4 mi, 4,462 ft). Because the overlook faces directly toward the setting sun, sunset light crosses the view; sunset times range from 16:58 at the December solstice to 21:28 at the June solstice, with sunrise ranging from 05:51 in June to 08:13 in December. The approach road to this overlook closes seasonally. Le Saut du Moine precedes this stop on the byway, and Belvédère du Sautet follows it.
