Sell the drive itself.

Locals and creators author byways in Guide Studio and price them. What a traveler buys is not a document about a road — it is the drive: routed on real roads, every stop a verified place, weather and open hours checked at arrival, a voice that narrates as you go.

A listing is a living byway.

This is Loneliest Road in America29 stops across Nevada and Utah, from the committed corpus — presented exactly as a creator's listing reads. Press a stop; the map answers. Nothing here is a mockup.

Press a stop to see it on the map. In the app, the same listing routes on real roads, checks weather and open hours at your arrival time, and narrates as you drive.

Route structure sourced from the Wikivoyage guide (CC BY-SA 4.0). Roads, distances and drive times measured by the Byway routing engine.

Simple terms, on purpose.

01

You keep 70%

Byway keeps 30%, and earns it only when you do — no sale, no fee. A platform paid by the split has posted a bond against its own promise to bring you travelers.

02

No creator subscription

Selling is included with every paid Byway plan — no separate seller fee, no listing fee. Free community byways stay open to everyone, and becoming a marketplace creator is an application, not another purchase.

03

The price is yours

You set it inside Byway's published band — $3–10 for routes — so a byway costs like a good coffee, not a course. Byway holds the band and the refund policy, and never discounts your work without you.

Hypothetical arithmetic — a price times a number of buyers, split by the standing terms. It demonstrates the deal, not an income.

What Byway does for its cut.

Some platforms charge their sellers for credentials. Byway's gate is infrastructure — an engine no PDF can carry — and it comes with your plan: no separate seller fee, just the split.

  • Verified places

Every stop in a published byway traces to a real, verified place — the zero-hallucinations rule applies to paid work hardest of all.

  • Real roads

Listings route on the same engine that plans every Byway drive, so a purchased byway is navigable the moment it's bought.

  • Weather and hours

A buyer's copy checks conditions and open hours at their arrival time — the listing stays alive long after you publish it.

  • Narration

Voice on stops rides Byway's narration runtime. Your knowledge gets told at the moment it matters, mid-drive.

  • Checkout, refunds, paperwork

Payments, refunds and the tax forms are Byway's job. You publish; the admin is the platform's share of the work.

  • Distribution

Byways surface where travelers already plan — the app, the atlas, community picks. You bring the road; Byway brings the room.

From knowing a road to selling it.

01

Apply

One question does the gating: what drive would you give a visiting friend, and what would you tell them along the way? Evidence of knowledge — follower counts are not a qualification.

02

Build in Guide Studio

Start from verified places and real roads; add the order, the timing, the stories only you know. Single day or a week of them.

03

Publish

Share a free community byway with anyone — or, on any paid plan, price yours for the marketplace. Locals get the Verified local mark on home ground — the roads they actually know.

04

Seller verification, then payouts at the standing split — arriving with the marketplace launch. The invite-only Founding Guides cohort goes first.

What runs today, what arrives next.

Live in the beta

With the marketplace launch
  • Creator payouts at the standing split
  • Seller verification before any money moves
  • Price caps enforced by the platform, not the honor system
  • The Founding Guides cohort opens the shelf

Byway sells routes and stories that run in software. It is not a travel agency, does not take reservations, and no one here will call themselves your advisor.
