Gortmore View Point sits at 608 ft along the Causeway Coastal Route, facing 300° with the land dropping 553 ft within 600 m of the overlook. The terrain falls away toward the coast, where Sweet Nellie's and White Strand are both visible north-northwest at 5.3 mi, at elevations of 125 ft and 32 ft. Further inland peaks come into view across a range of distances, including Crockalaghta (north-northwest, 6.4 mi, 528 ft), Crocknasmug (north-northwest, 7.0 mi, 1,042 ft), and Crockaulin (northwest, 7.4 mi, 1,025 ft). Magilligan Point View, another viewpoint, is visible northwest at 7.4 mi, 982 ft. To the west-northwest, Bath Green, Rock Hill, Sheep Hill, and Crockavishane appear at distances between 6.8 and 9.8 mi, ranging from 75 ft to 1,030 ft in elevation. The facing direction looks toward the sunset, offset 30° from square. Sunset times vary through the year, from 16:00 at the December solstice to 22:12 at the June solstice.
