Kruno

Kruno sits at 448 ft on the Helgelandskysten byway, facing 270° with terrain dropping 401 ft within 600 m of the overlook. The view opens west-southwest across a stretch of coastal terrain, taking in Kjellerhaugvatnet naturreservat at 14.0 mi, the Einesforsen waterfall at 16.0 mi, and a line of peaks further out: Floaksla at 17.2 mi and 825 ft, Røsstinden at 18.9 mi and 2,384 ft, and Trollvasstinden at 20.1 mi and 2,606 ft. Because the overlook faces almost due west, it looks directly toward the setting sun. At the June solstice the sun does not set at all. At the March and September equinoxes, sunset falls around 18:25 and 19:16 respectively, putting the sun low over the peaks in the evening. In December, sunset comes early, at 13:39, with a short day running from a 10:40 sunrise. The steep drop just past the pullout means the foreground falls away quickly before the more distant reserve, waterfall, and peaks come into view. The next stop along the route is Braset.
