Utsikten (Volandstinden)

Utsikten sits at 1,390 feet along the Lofoten byway, facing west (270°) with terrain dropping 1,390 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The westward orientation lines up directly with the sun's path at sunset. From this point, a series of peaks spread across the western half of the horizon: Børa to the west-northwest at 1.8 miles, Torsfjordtinden and Moltinden to the west at 2.5 and 2.9 miles, and Ryten to the west-northwest at 3.3 miles. Farther out, Kitinden and Ulvstinden lie to the west-southwest at 3.7 and 4.5 miles, with Fuglhuken to the northwest at 4.1 miles and Narvtinden to the south-southwest at the same distance. Tverrfjellet closes the view to the southwest at 4.8 miles. Light conditions shift with the season: the June solstice brings midnight sun, while the December solstice brings polar night. At the equinoxes, sunrise falls near 06:00 and sunset near 18:20–19:15. This lookout follows Skagsanden and precedes Preikstolen on the byway route.
