The numbers that decide it

Recreation.gov publishes no site-level detail for this campground, so we cannot say what length of rig it takes. Call the managing office before committing to it in a large vehicle.

Site-level detail from Recreation.gov, checked 2026-08-05. Where a field says “not published”, the agency has not published it — it does not mean zero.

Deer Creek Guard Station

Deer Creek Guard Station is 14 gravel miles up Greys River Rd from Alpine, just past Murphy Campground. Bunkbeds accommodate 8 people; summer water is provided for kitchen and bathroom. Propane heat, cookstove and lights offer rustic amenities. Winter outhouse is nearby. In the summer, Forest Service horses may be grazing around the compound, so vehicles may be left outside the pasture gate if preferred. A visitor corral is provided behind the cabin as well. For detailed information, photos, and to reserve this cabin visit recreation.gov .
