Picnic Point Recreation Area
If you’re looking for a base camp to explore area trails or a quiet campground nestled under towering pines on the Mondeaux Flowage, try the Picnic Point Campground, approximately 20 miles northwest of Medford. Picnic Point is a tent-only campground that’s near the Mondeaux Dam Recreation Area on the Medford-Park Falls Ranger District. Each of the four individual campsites has a fire ring and picnic table. There’s a vault toilet at the campground. Water is available at the nearby glacial spring on Forest Road 1563/Park Road. Trash collection is not provided within the campground. Please pack out your own garbage. A dumpster is available in West Point Campground. Please note that parking is not available at each campsite. You’ll need to park in a nearby lot and carry your gear to your site. Reservations are available only for the entire campground and only from April through October. Specific dates change yearly. Check availability at recreation.gov . If the campground isn’t reserved, the individual sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. From October through April, the campground is only available on a first-come, first-served basis. Your camping fee includes use of a boat ramp for access to the 416-acre Mondeaux Flowage. Boaters who are not staying at the campground may also use the boat ramp with a day-use fee or pass. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is accessible directly from the campground for campers only. Public parking for the trail is available on County Highway E. The campground is available for year-round camping; however, the access road is not maintained during the winter months for snow removal.

Fees
$75 per night when reserved as a group site. $15 per night per site when the campground is not reserved. Interagency pass discounts do not count apply when reserving the campground as a group site. A $ 5-day use fee is required for the use of the boat landing for non-campers.
Restrictions
Campsite Capacity • When reserved as a group site, 35 people are allowed. • Eight people are allowed when used as individuals. • All sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Pets and Animals • Pets must be crated, caged, or on a leash less than 6’ in length while in developed recreation areas. Firewood Closure Order • The firewood closure order prohibits possessing, storing, or transporting any firewood that originates more than 25 miles from your campsite. Any prohibitions in place, including fire bans, will be posted on our website and site bulletin boards. Quiet Hours • Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am. • The use of generators is not allowed during quiet hours. Occupancy & Use Restrictions • Restrictions for all National Forest System lands can be found by visiting Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations 261 . The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest-specific restrictions can be found on the Occupancy and Use Restrictions page. ATV & UTV operation is prohibited in the campground.
