Chief Paulina Horse Camp
This campground is located near Paulina Lake in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument . This is the only horse campground in the caldera and provides the horse enthusiast a great way to sight-see throughout the entire monument area. There are a couple of resorts nearby for camping supplies and restaurants. Find a map of this campground here . There is no drinking water at this site, only a water pump for horses. There is also no cell phone coverage.

2-Horse Campsite Rate: $23/night • 4-Horse Campsite Rate: $27/night • One vehicle included with reservation – Each Additional Vehicle: $10.00 NOTE : Holders of a Golden Age and Golden Access Passports and Senior and Access Passes are entitled to the following discounts on expanded amenity recreation fees: - A 50 percent discount on the fee for a single camping unit. This discount does not apply to use of a cabin, lookout, double camping unit, triple camping unit, group camping unit, extra vehicle fees, or any additional camping units and separately charged utility, water, hook-up or day use fees.

Visit Recreation.gov for current operating dates and to make a reservation. This campground will be closing at noon on September 28, 2025, and the last night to reserve a campsite is September 27, 2025.
Restrictions
Maximum site spur length is 50 feet. • As part of a larger effort to reduce invasive species on national forest lands, weed-free feed is required on the Deschutes National Forest. Locate a weed-free feed vendor near you.
