Wheeler Gorge Campground
Shady sites surrounded by rocky mountains. Stream runs through the campground. Recreational Vehicles and tent camping. Wheeler Gorge Campground has 69 family campsites, 5 handicap accessible sites, and 6 double sites for larger groups. RV’s maximum length is 35 feet. Each site contains a table, barbecue and fire ring. There is no dump station or potable water at the campground. Please bring your own drinking water . Creek runs through campground seasonally in the winter and spring. Dry during summer months. Reservations must be made at least 3 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 night minimum stay on weekends and a 3 night minimum stay on holiday weekends. Maximum 2 vehicles per site. An additional fee will be collected on-site for second vehicle. No check-in after 10pm, security gate locked. Reservations: 59 sites are on the reservation system: www.recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. 9 campsites sites are on a first-come, first- serve basis. Cash only for first-come, first-serve campsites. Wheeler Gorge Visitor Center is across from the campground and is open Sat/Sun from 9-3. Interpretive displays, exhibits and naturalist programs from May - September. For more information visit: http://lpforest.org/wheeler/ Wheeler Gorge Natural Trail follows a nice stream and is a easy half a mile hike. Trail is open year-round. This is a loop trail that leads through a riparian and chaparral habitat. The trailhead is on the west side of Highway 33, 1/2 mile north of the Wheeler Gorge Campground entrance. Due to the traffic on Highway 33, please be careful accessing the trailhead.

Single site (6-8 people) $35/night. Double site $60/night. Extra vehicle fee $10.00/night. Day use parking within the campground is $10.00 per vehicle. Call (805) 646-4348 or (805) 968-6640 Monday-Friday, 8-4:30 for more information.

Check-in time: 3:00pm. Check-out time: 12:00 noon. No check in after 10:00PM, security gate is locked. Quiet Hours: 10:00pm – 6:00am.
