Teal Lake Campground
This Campground will close on October 17, 2024. • Drinking water notification, Oct. 21, 2024 Teal Lake Campground is located near Walden, Colorado and provides 17 individual campsites, Each site has a fire grate and a picnic table. The campground offers a vault toilet and all individual sites are first come first serve basis and cannot be reserved. The only site that is reservable at this campground is the group site. The group site can accomodate up to 21 people and can be reserved on www.recreation.gov . The group site has four picnic tables and two campfire rings for groups to gather. Teal Lake is a 50-acre lake surrounded by a rocky shoreline and pine-fir forest. While some sites provide shade, many were affected by the beetle kill and what was once forested sites, offering shade, have now been thinned and lack shade. Black bear, bobcat, coyote, elk, mule deer and moose are just some of the many animals that inhabit the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and Thunder Basin National Grassland. Trout fishing is a popular activitity in the clear, calm waters of Teal Lake. Only electric boats and non-motorized boats are permitted. Off-road vehicle enthusiasts have easy access to the Grizzly-Helena Trail nearby. Hiking is great in the nearby Mount Zirkel wilderness, though hikers must drive to the trailheads. To get to this campground, please note that GPS and other map apps do not give accurate directions causing many campers to get lost and arrive at destinations not near the Teal Lake Campground.
