West Fish Creek Trailhead

This seasonal trail is generally not melted off until late June/early July due to snow levels at this elevation. This Trailhead primarily serves as the access point for the West Fish Creek ATV Trail No. 1098. This 6.75 mile trail travels through the open parks and Aspen of the Dunckley Flat Tops utilizing an old logging road. Many dispersed camping sites exist along the trail and serve as a popular destination for big game hunters. At 3.9 miles the West Fish Creek Foot/Horse Trail splits off to the right. This trail concludes at the junction of the Gill Reservoir Trail No. 1104 and the N. Dunckley Trail No. 1098. This Trail is closed to all vehicles over 50” in width. Please Note : Only the West Fish Creek ATV Trail is open to motorized use. Please stay on the designated route, follow signage, and practice Leave No Trace practices while riding. The West Fish Creek Foot/Horse Trail No. 1111 can also be accessed from here. Primary access for this trail is located 0.5 miles West of the Dunckley Pass Overlook on the Scenic Byway. There is a large pull off/parking area off the North shoulder. This 5.5 mile trail passes an old homestead site before meandering through dense stands of forest and through large open meadows. Excellent during fall color change. This trail can be looped back to the parking area using the West Fish Creek ATV Trail, but be aware of heavy ATV traffic in the Fall. The road to the trailhead is rough and often muddy. High clearance vehicles are recommended. Additional parking and restrooms can be found at the Dunckley Pass Overlook . Many choose to park here and ATV in on the road.
