The South Fork trail is 10.9 miles long. It begins at Forest Road 250 and ends at Forest Trail 718. The trail provides access to several high lakes, such as Canon Verde, Canon Rincon, Green, Blue and Glacier Lakes. Camping sites are available along the entire route. The difficulty of the trail varies considerably, ranging from a gentle path following the stream to steep switchbacks climbing the valley slopes. The trail is well traveled and easy to follow. From this trail hikers may continue onto the Green Lake Trail #726, Canon Rincon Trail #722, Conejos Peak Trail # 719 or the CDNST #813. The trail is open for the following uses: Horseback riding, hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
