An Chonair sits at 1,259 ft on the Wild Atlantic Way, facing north, with the land dropping 856 ft within 600 m of the overlook. To the northwest, An Géarán rises 2,454 ft at a distance of 2.4 mi, and Barr an Ghéaráin follows at 2,604 ft, 2.7 mi to the north-northwest. Further north-northwest, at 3.8 mi, lies the site of a World War II plane crash, marked by the engine of a Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor at 2,061 ft. Beyond that, Binn Fhaiche reaches 2,480 ft at 4.1 mi, and Cnoc Bréanainn (Mullach Thuaidh) reaches 2,821 ft at 4.7 mi, both to the north-northwest.
