Leirdalen sits along the Sognefjellet byway at 3,018 ft, facing 60° with the land dropping 225 ft over the first 600 m. The view opens toward the east and northeast, taking in Øvre Høgberg 1.4 mi east at 4,325 ft, Svarthåmåren 1.6 mi east-northeast at 3,324 ft, Storhåmåren 2.0 mi east-northeast at 3,456 ft, Orrberget 2.6 mi northeast at 2,896 ft, and Høgbergje 2.7 mi northeast at 2,980 ft. The orientation places the overlook roughly toward sunrise, about 30 degrees off square. At the June solstice, sunrise comes at 03:42 and sunset at 23:17, giving a long window of light across the visible terrain. The equinoxes bring sunrise near 06:30–07:11 and sunset near 18:41–19:31, while the December solstice compresses daylight to between 09:48 and 15:04. The terrain model behind these figures accounts for the elevation and drop-off readings.
