Pic de l'Aiguille

OpenStreetMap
Looking north-east from Pic de l'Aiguille. Terrain and imagery at true elevation.

Pic de l'Aiguille sits at 7,021 feet along the Route Napoléon, with the terrain falling 1,484 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view faces 60°, roughly toward sunrise, and takes in a mix of water, rivers, saddles, and peaks spread across the east and northeast. Closest are the Plan d'eau du Champsaur and Le Drac, both about three miles out to the east-northeast, followed by Lac de l'Aullagnier to the northeast at 3,796 feet. Farther east lie La Rouanne, the Col de Manse, and the Torrent d'Ancelle, with Puy de Manse rising to 5,371 feet at 5.6 miles to the east-southeast. To the north-northeast, the Torrent de la Séveraissette and Rocher de l'Ïare appear at greater distance, the latter reaching 5,041 feet at 6.3 miles. Because the overlook faces toward sunrise, morning light crosses the scene directly; at the June solstice the sun comes up at 05:51, while at the December solstice sunrise is later, at 08:10. The lookout is reached along the Route Napoléon between Montagne de Grand Rochefort and Pic de Chaudun.
