Pumpkin hill viewpoint

Pumpkin Hill Viewpoint sits at 649 ft along The East Cape Coast, facing due east at 90°. The land drops 588 ft within 600 m of the overlook, giving an open view over the terrain below. Two named features are visible from the point: Paku, a peak to the south-southeast at 1.8 mi and 696 ft elevation, and Tokaroa Point, a cape to the southeast at 2.0 mi, sitting at 188 ft. Because the overlook faces directly toward the sunrise line, it aligns with sunrise across the seasons, with sunrise times ranging from 05:54 at the December solstice to 07:30 at the June solstice, and sunset ranging from 17:08 to 20:36 across the year. Birds Lookout precedes this stop on the byway, and Mangagataururu follows it.
