Rangikapiti Pā

Rangikapiti Pā sits at 297 feet along the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, with the land dropping 303 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, facing 30°. Several capes lie close by along the coastline: Oyster Point to the east-northeast at 0.4 mi, Goldfinch Point to the east at 0.5 mi, Rangitoto Point to the north-northeast at 0.5 mi, and Osprey Head, also north-northeast, at 0.6 mi. Rangitoto Peninsula rises to 218 feet to the northeast at 0.7 mi. Farther out, a set of peaks come into view: Kaiwhetu to the north-northeast at 2.2 mi (543 ft), Whakaangi to the northeast at 2.9 mi (1,099 ft), Maungaroa to the east at 3.3 mi (476 ft), and Puketutu to the east-northeast at 4.0 mi (617 ft). Sunrise and sunset times vary through the year, from a 06:09 sunrise at the December solstice to a 07:34 sunrise at the June solstice. The overlook is preceded by Scenic Reserve and followed by Kohekohe Point along the route.
