Roche des Fées

Roche des Fées sits at 3,259 ft along the Route des Crêtes in the Vosges, facing 120° with terrain dropping 914 ft within 600 m of the overlook. The view spans a cluster of nearby summits: Col des Bagenelles to the south-southeast at 0.8 mi (2,969 ft), Grand Brézouard and Petit Brézouard to the east-southeast at roughly 2.1 and 2.2 mi (4,032 ft and 3,947 ft), la Grande Roche to the southeast at 2.6 mi (3,625 ft), and Tête des Faux to the south at 3.4 mi (3,963 ft). Rehberg and Hirzberg lie to the east at 2.7 and 3.6 mi, at 3,743 ft and 3,740 ft respectively. The facing direction looks toward sunrise, angled 30° off square, which places morning light across the ridge line rather than straight on. Sunrise and sunset times shift with the season, from a 05:32 sunrise in June to an 08:20 sunrise in December. The approach road to this overlook closes seasonally from November through April. On the byway, it falls between Les Balcons d'Orbey and Rocher du Coq de Bruyères.
