Scenic lookout

This lookout sits at 660 feet along the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, facing 330 degrees toward the north-northwest. The terrain drops 471 feet within 600 meters of the site, giving an open view across the surrounding land. Puketaratara, a 427-foot peak, lies to the west-northwest at 1.4 miles, with Wharehine, a 446-foot peak, farther out at 4.4 miles in the same general direction. Several rivers and creeks appear across the view, including the Whanaki River to the north, the Waireia River and Tauhoa River to the west and west-northwest, the Wharehine River to the north-northwest, and the more distant Oruawharo River and Māeneene Creek. Gittos Point extends into view to the northwest at 6.7 miles, while Browns Hill, at 276 feet, rises to the north-northeast at 7.3 miles. The nearest town, Warkworth, is 11.3 miles to the east-southeast, with Snells Beach and Ōrewa farther along in the same general direction. This stop falls between Cathedral Grove and Parekura Peak on the byway route.
