The outlook to the west-southwest and west takes in a series of coastal features and peaks at increasing distance: Ósland lies 5.9 mi away at 217 ft, followed by Eskey at 14.5 mi and 295 ft, Skálafellshnúta at 20.8 mi and 2,134 ft, Hestgerðiihnúta at 22.7 mi and 1,452 ft, Borgarhafnarfjall at 23.2 mi and 1,449 ft, and Grjóbotnstindur at 28.0 mi and 4,377 ft. Daylight hours vary considerably across the year: sunrise comes at 07:02 and sunset at 19:14 near the March equinox, while the June solstice brings sunrise at 02:25 and sunset at 23:41. By the September equinox, sunrise is at 06:43 and sunset at 19:04, and the December solstice narrows daylight to a sunrise of 10:58 and sunset of 15:00.
