Persimmon Gap Visitor Center is located in a low pass between the Santiago Mountains at the northern entrance of the park. This pass has been a travel corridor for centuries for people entering and exiting the lower Big Bend country. The visitor center offers park orientation and information. The Persimmon Gap Visitor Center is located in a low pass between the Santiago Mountains at the northern end of the park. This pass has been a travel corridor for centuries for people entering and exiting the lower Big Bend country. The area around the visitor center includes the main building, a shaded picnic table with outdoor information exhibits, and a vault toilet. The visitor center is a one-story, white adobe structure with labeled desert plants growing in raised beds at the base. The inside of the visitor center contains a large open room with exhibits, a bookstore, and an information counter. To the right are indoor restrooms with flush toilets and sinks.
