Views of the lake are prominent and accessible from Rim Visitor Center. It is located at the historic Kiser Studio in Rim Village. Outdoor exhibits at the near-by Sinnott Memorial Overlook are open when the ice melts from the walkway in June until mid-October. Get your passport stamp when the visitor center is open. Rim Visitor Center is usually open seven days a week in summer.

Rim Visitor Center* is in Rim Village, 7 miles north of Highway 62 from Annie Springs Entrance Station or 14 miles south of the North Entrance** via West Rim Drive. Angle-in parking with additional parking in the picnic area. Large vehicles use the dedicated parking area at the entrance to Rim Village or near-by pullouts. *There is no physical address for the Rim Visitor Center. **North Entrance Road and West Rim Drive are closed from November 1 or the first significant snowfall to generally mid-June.
Arrive at Rim Village, three miles north of the blinking stop sign at park headquarters or via a left turn from the stop sign on West Rim Drive. The road into Rim Village is narrow with two-way traffic, and a 15 mile-per-hour speed limit. Front-in parking aligns most of the right and left sides of the road until it ends in a loop in front of Crater Lake Lodge. RVs and other large vehicles are encouraged to park in the designated area as you enter Rim Village, or in a near-by pull-out along the roads that led you to the village. Accessible parking is available in several locations including in front of Rim Village Visitor Center. During hours of operation, the visitor center is easily located by looking for the American flag flying out front on a pole. Otherwise, no road sign is present indicating the visitor center location. Rim Village is an historic district listed in 1997 on the National Register of Historic Places. Rustic-style features were created with native stone and logs, including a stone parapet wall outlining the Rim Village Promenade. This is a pedestrian and pets only walkway at the caldera edge and serves as a guide through the village, passing behind the Rim Village Visitor Center. The visitor center is inside the Kiser Studio which Fred Kiser built in 1921 and expanded in 1926.It is a small building constructed with native stone and wood shingles. His studio offered visitors hand-colored post cards of photographs that he took of Crater Lake. Today, the Crater Lake Natural History Association operates the park store offering a variety of books, gifts, and educational items for children. In addition to the park store, a ranger is on duty to answer questions and assist with your itinerary. Junior ranger activities for children are offered throughout the day. Ranger talks are given at the Sinnott Memorial Overlook. Rangers will gladly move the talk to a more accessible location upon advance request.
