The Big Oak Flat Information Station is located just inside the park near the Big Oak Flat Entrance, along the Big Oak Flat Road (continuation of Highway 120 inside the park). Parking is limited.

The Big Oak Flat Information Station building is a one-story, long, modular trailer. An accessible ramp ascends across the length of the front of the building onto a deck. A brown metal sign at the top of the ramp reads Big Oak Flat Information Station and has a National Park Service logo. It goes on to read: visitor information, with an icon of a question mark, wilderness permits, with an icon of a person hiking, and bookstore, with an icon of an open book. On the deck, near the side entrance to the information station are two large, grey, metal bins that look like trash bins. Similar signs on both bins read: No trash, bear canister rental return, with an illustration of a bears' head. Next to the information station are restrooms and vending machines, with similar architectural features.
