Betsy's Rock Falls

Betsy's Rock Falls sits at 3,399 feet on the Blue Ridge Parkway, with the land dropping 725 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view faces 120°, toward the east-southeast, taking in The Lump Overlook and The Lump peak 1.9 miles away at 3,472 and 3,514 feet respectively. Farther in the same direction lie Rendezvous Mountain Educational State Forest, the Rendezvous Mountain Firetower, and Rendezvous Mountain itself, all between 7.6 and 7.7 miles out and under 2,500 feet in elevation. Huffman Mountain rises to the southeast at 5.9 miles, and Johnson Mountain sits to the south at 8.2 miles. Because the overlook faces 30 degrees off square from due east, it looks roughly toward sunrise; on the June solstice the sun rises at 6:09 a.m., while on the December solstice sunrise comes later, at 7:34 a.m. Boone is 15.7 miles to the west-southwest, with Lenoir farther off to the south-southwest and Statesville well beyond to the southeast.
