Bruce Vento Scenic Overlook

Bruce Vento Scenic Overlook sits at 953 feet along the Great River Road, facing due west (270°). The land drops 258 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an open view across the lower ground to the west. Several city parks are visible from the point, including Bay Triangle at 0.9 mi west-northwest, Victoria Park South and Victoria Park North to the west at roughly 1.0 to 1.3 miles, and Palace Community Center to the northwest at 1.3 miles. Farther out, Linwood Park, Fountain Park, and Hamline and Hague Park lie to the northwest between 1.5 and 2.9 miles, while Victoria Highland Park, Marie Park, and Shepard Park extend to the south-southwest, southwest, and west-southwest out to 2.6 miles. Because the overlook faces directly toward the sunset, the view aligns with the sun's setting position through all seasons. Saint Paul is 2.4 miles to the north-northeast, with Minneapolis 8.5 miles west-northwest and Bloomington 11.7 miles west-southwest. High Rock precedes this stop on the byway, and Carver's Cave Overlook follows it.
