Cedaredge Overlook

Cedaredge Overlook sits at 9,261 feet on the Grand Mesa byway, facing 150 degrees toward the south-southeast. The terrain drops 613 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an open view across a series of lower mesas and hills. Visible peaks include Bluenose Mesa to the south at 5.3 miles, Wilbanks Mesa and Spaulding Peak to the east-southeast at roughly 6 miles, and Cedar Mesa to the southeast at 8.1 miles. Farther out, January Mesa, Beebe Mesa, and Doctor Mesa lie to the south-southwest between 10 and 11 miles, with Antelope Hill to the south at 12 miles and Redlands Mesa to the southeast at 12.7 miles. The BLM Open OHV Area is visible to the south-southwest at 13.9 miles. All of these features sit at lower elevations than the overlook, ranging from about 5,269 to 8,583 feet. The towns of Clifton and Grand Junction are well to the west-northwest and west, over 26 and 32 miles away respectively, while Montrose lies 36.3 miles to the south. Sunrise and sunset times vary by season, with the December solstice offering the shortest daylight window, from 7:28 a.m. to 4:54 p.m., and the June solstice the longest, from 5:47 a.m. to 8:42 p.m.
