Farther out, January Mesa, Beebe Mesa, and Doctor Mesa lie to the south-southwest between 10 and 11 miles, with Antelope Hill to the south at 12 miles and Redlands Mesa to the southeast at 12.7 miles. The BLM Open OHV Area is visible to the south-southwest at 13.9 miles. All of these features sit at lower elevations than the overlook, ranging from about 5,269 to 8,583 feet. The towns of Clifton and Grand Junction are well to the west-northwest and west, over 26 and 32 miles away respectively, while Montrose lies 36.3 miles to the south. Sunrise and sunset times vary by season, with the December solstice offering the shortest daylight window, from 7:28 a.m. to 4:54 p.m., and the June solstice the longest, from 5:47 a.m. to 8:42 p.m.
