Cool Springs Overlook

Cool Springs Overlook sits at 2,480 feet on the Cohutta-Chattahoochee Scenic Byway, with land dropping 807 feet within 600 meters below the pullout. The view faces due east, directly toward sunrise, so morning light comes straight into the overlook while sunset falls behind it. Beaver Mountain rises to the northeast at 2.5 miles, and Tatum Lead Rd viewpoint sits east at 3.3 miles, higher than the overlook at 2,799 feet. Farther out, Emery Creek's Lower and Upper Falls are visible to the northeast at 5.5 and 5.7 miles, followed by Potatopatch Mountain at 7.2 miles and Bald Mountain at 7.3 miles, both to the east-northeast, with Bald Mountain reaching 4,010 feet. Cleveland lies 28.0 miles north-northwest, Chattanooga is 38.9 miles west-northwest, and Rome is 44.6 miles southwest. The previous stop along the byway is Cohutta Overlook. Because the view faces sunrise, early morning visits will catch direct light across the ridgeline toward Beaver Mountain and the more distant peaks.
