Crows Nest

Because the overlook faces directly toward sunrise, morning light comes straight on: sunrise runs from 05:26 at the June solstice to 07:34 at the December solstice, with sunset ranging from 20:48 in June to 16:34 in December. The nearest towns are Decorah, 37.7 miles northwest, Platteville, 39.3 miles east-southeast, and Dubuque, 42.8 miles southeast, all well outside walking distance. The mix of lower-elevation features to the east and the two higher viewpoints nearby gives this stop a layered look across the bluff terrain rather than a single focal point.
