Domingo Baca Canyon Overlook

Domingo Baca Canyon Overlook sits at 10,112 feet along the Turquoise Trail, facing 200 degrees toward the south-southwest. The terrain drops 1,474 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an unobstructed view down toward the lower elevations to the south and west. Dragons Tooth rises to the south-southeast at 0.3 miles, with Jawbone visible beyond it at 1.0 mile. Farther out, a series of lower features stretch across the southwest quadrant: the Double Shelter Group Area at 3.0 miles, W. L. Jackson Park at 3.1 miles, Little Cloud Park at 3.5 miles, Patricia Cassidy Park at 3.7 miles, Pino Arroyo Open Space at 4.1 miles, and Vista Sandia Equestrian Park at 4.2 miles, all at elevations well below the overlook. Albuquerque lies 14.2 miles to the southwest, Rio Rancho 15.5 miles to the west-northwest, and Santa Fe 44.1 miles to the northeast. On the June solstice, sunrise is at 05:52 and sunset at 20:24; on the December solstice, sunrise is at 07:11 and sunset at 16:58. The route continues from Upper La Cueva Canyon and La Luz Overlook to this point, then on to The Washout.
