Grandview Overlook

Grandview Overlook sits at 3,419 feet on the Blue Ridge Parkway, facing 150 degrees toward the south-southeast. The terrain drops 710 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an open view across the ridgeline. Osborne Mountain rises to the east-southeast at 2.3 miles, with Blue Knob visible to the south-southwest at 2.9 miles. Stoney Fork Overlook, another viewpoint, lies to the east at 3.5 miles, while Poor Knob sits south-southeast at the same distance. Farther out, Mast Knob (4.8 miles), Bentley Knob (5.3 miles), and both Little Dugger Mountain and Dugger Mountain (5.7 miles) extend the view to the south. Boone is 6.5 miles to the west, Hickory is 36.3 miles south-southeast, and Bristol is 42.9 miles northwest. Sunrise and sunset shift with the seasons: around 7:31 a.m. and 7:38 p.m. at the March equinox, 6:10 a.m. and 8:48 p.m. at the June solstice, 7:15 a.m. and 7:25 p.m. at the September equinox, and 7:34 a.m. and 5:16 p.m. at the December solstice.
