Jacks Point

Jacks Point sits at 1,360 feet on the Southland & the Catlins byway, facing 330 degrees. The land falls 352 feet within 600 meters of the overlook, giving an open outlook across the terrain to the north and northwest. Peninsula Hill rises to the north at 2.5 miles, with Rolands Rock and Queenstown Hill visible to the north-northwest at 4.5 and 5.0 miles. Slope Hill lies north-northeast at 7.0 miles, and to the northwest, at a distance of 7.0 to 7.2 miles, stand Ben Lomond Saddle, Ben Lomond, and Bowen Peak, the last reaching 5,351 feet. Refuge Point, a cape, is visible to the west at 3.7 miles. Daylight hours vary through the year, with sunrise and sunset at 07:47 and 20:00 at the March equinox, 08:25 and 17:10 at the June solstice, 06:36 and 18:41 at the September equinox, and 05:55 and 21:32 at the December solstice.
