Facing north-northwest at an elevation of 3,320 ft (1,011 m), you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains descend into the valley from atop the Jewell Hollow Overlook. Leading Ridge is the closest ridge to the overlook. Behind Leading Ridge is Jewell Hollow. Morning Star Lake, to the left, was created by the Dry Run Dam and is used for flood control purposes in the valley below.
