Little Balcony

Little Balcony sits at 2,675 feet along the Mountains to Sound Greenway - I-90, facing 210 degrees with terrain dropping 1,214 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The view is oriented toward a cluster of peaks to the south and southwest, including McClellan Butte at 5,135 feet 1.9 miles away, Mount Kent at 5,075 feet, and the Duchess of Kent and Duke of Kent peaks farther south at 3.0 and 3.3 miles respectively. Additional peaks visible to the west and west-southwest include Easter Island, Songbird Peak, Change Peak, and Greenway Mountain, ranging from 3,636 to 4,404 feet in elevation and 3.2 to 3.9 miles distant. Two named viewpoints, Hall Point and J's Landing, lie to the west at roughly 2.8 and 2.9 miles. McClellan Butte itself is a known peak in the Cascade Range, located 11 miles east of North Bend, with a hiking trail regarded as a difficult alternative to the more crowded Mount Si trail. The towns of Kent, Bellevue, and Seattle are all located to the west or west-northwest, between 29 and 36 miles away. Sunrise and sunset times vary by season, with the longest daylight around the June solstice and the shortest around the December solstice. Mount Margaret precedes this stop on the byway, and Weeks Falls Viewpoint follows.
