Lone Oak

Lone Oak sits at 419 feet along the San Luis Obispo North Coast Byway on Route 1, facing 240 degrees with land dropping 399 feet within 600 meters. The orientation puts the view roughly 30 degrees off a direct westward sunset line, so evening light crosses the overlook at an angle rather than head-on. From this point, Concrete Turret is visible to the west at 0.5 miles and 386 feet elevation, with Margo Dodd Park further west at 1.1 miles and 50 feet, and Eldwayen Ocean Park at 1.6 miles and 35 feet, marking a descent toward the coastline. San Luis Obispo lies 9.0 miles to the north, Santa Maria is 18.3 miles southeast, and Lompoc is 37.1 miles south-southeast. Concrete Turret is the previous lookout along the byway, and Lover's Point follows as the next stop. The steep drop nearby and the sequence of lower coastal features to the west make this a point where the terrain changes noticeably in a short distance.
