Ma & Pa Trestle

Ma & Pa Trestle sits at 154 feet along the Horses and Hounds Scenic Byway, with the terrain dropping about 10 feet over the next 600 meters. Several features lie to the west-southwest and southwest within roughly a mile and a half, including Marble Springs at 1.2 miles, Balancing Reservoir Spillway at 1.4 miles, Old Quarry at 1.4 miles, and Lime Kiln at 1.5 miles. Willow Grove Barn and Spring House are a bit farther out, at 1.6 and 1.7 miles respectively, both to the west-southwest. Baltimore is 10.8 miles to the south-southwest, with Columbia further at 23.3 miles southwest and Washington at 46.2 miles southwest. Daylight hours vary across the year, with sunrise at 05:40 and sunset at 20:37 around the June solstice, narrowing to a 07:23 sunrise and 16:46 sunset near the December solstice. The equinox days fall in between, with sunrise around 07:00 and sunset near 19:00. This overlook follows Loch Raven Dam along the byway route.
