Madrone Crest Viewpoint

Madrone Crest Viewpoint sits at 1,368 feet along the byway between Burlington and Bellingham, facing due north across terrain that drops 510 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. The northward view takes in Samish Glen Open Space at 1.6 miles, Old Fairhaven Parkway at 1.9 miles, and Fairhaven Park to the north-northwest at 2.0 miles. Happy Valley Park lies north at 2.0 miles, with the Fairhaven Community Garden and Lenora Court Open Space both around 2.5 miles to the northwest and north-northwest. Bellingham is 4.6 miles north, while Mount Vernon and Oak Harbor lie farther south, at 19.7 and 28.3 miles respectively. Daylight varies through the year, from sunrise at 05:08 and sunset at 21:17 near the June solstice to sunrise at 08:01 and sunset at 16:17 near the December solstice. The overlook is reached from the Chuckanut Drive Heritage Marker to the south and continues north toward Inspiration Point.
