Magilligan Point View

Magilligan Point View sits at 953 ft on the Wild Atlantic Way, facing 120° toward the east-southeast with the land dropping 331 ft within 600 m of the overlook. Crocknasmug rises to the east-northeast at 2.1 miles, and Sweet Nellie's coast is visible to the east-southeast at 2.6 miles. Farther out, a cluster of features and viewpoints spreads to the southeast and south-southeast between 7.3 and 8.7 miles, including Gortmore View Point, Eagle Hill, Binevenagh View, and Binevenagh itself, along with Downhill beach, Aidan's Well, Daenerys in the Dothraki Sea, and Burning of the Seven Gods. Binevenagh, a steep-sided hill in County Londonderry formed around 60 million years ago from molten lava, forms part of the Keenaght Hills along the western edge of the Antrim Plateau and overlooks the Magilligan peninsula and the villages of Bellarena, Downhill, Castlerock, and Benone beach. The area holds designation as both an Area of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering 138 km2. The facing direction looks toward sunrise, with sunrise times ranging from 04:48 at the June solstice to 08:53 at the December solstice. This overlook falls between Gap of Mamore Viewpoint and Pollet Great Arch along the route.
