Because the facing is about 30° off square to sunset, the viewpoint catches evening light rather than a direct sunset alignment. Sunset times shift through the year, from 17:00 at the December solstice to 21:04 at the June solstice, with sunrise ranging from 05:53 in June to 07:50 in December. Logan lies 25.8 miles to the northwest, Ogden is 29.0 miles west-southwest, and Layton is 35.7 miles southwest.
