Observation Tower

Observation Tower sits along the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail at an elevation of 573 feet, with land dropping only 2 feet within 600 meters, indicating a flat surrounding terrain. The view takes in a cluster of wetland and refuge lands: Boss Unit of Ottawa NWR to the south at 1.0 mile, Magee Marsh Wildlife Area to the east at 1.2 miles, Fox Nature Preserve of Ottawa NWR to the west-southwest at 1.2 miles, and Crane Creek State Park to the east-northeast at 1.5 miles. Also visible are the main Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge to the west at 1.5 miles, Turtle Creek Lake Area to the east-southeast at 1.5 miles, and Turtle Creek Island Unit of Ottawa NWR to the south-southeast at 1.8 miles. Toledo lies 18.3 miles west, Bedford Township 24.0 miles west-northwest, and Bowling Green 29.1 miles southwest. Daylight hours shift across the year, with sunrise near 5:59 and sunset near 21:11 at the June solstice, compared to sunrise near 7:57 and sunset near 17:06 at the December solstice. This overlook connects along the byway between the Cleveland Script Sign at North Coast Harbor and the westernmost point on Lake Erie.
