Elkins lies 22.6 miles to the north, with Buckhannon 34.2 miles northwest and Weston 45.1 miles northwest. Sunrise and sunset times vary by season, with sunrise as early as 05:56 near the June solstice and as late as 07:34 near the December solstice, giving a range of daylight conditions for viewing the eastern ridgeline.
