Red Rock Canyon Dedication Overlook

The Red Rock Canyon Dedication Overlook sits at 3,827 feet on the Red Rock Canyon Back Country Byway, facing 290 degrees with the land dropping 105 feet within 600 meters of the site. The view spans a series of peaks and rock walls to the west and southwest. Mount Wilson (7,030 ft) and Keystone Thrust (7,010 ft) lie southwest at 2.7 miles, with Rainbow Mountain (6,816 ft) southwest at 2.6 miles. To the west-northwest, Bridge Mountain (6,466 ft), Spectrum Wall (4,937 ft), Brass Wall (4,901 ft), and Straight Shooter Wall (4,861 ft) appear between 2.5 and 2.8 miles out. Closer in, Oak Creek Spring sits west-southwest at 2.3 miles and 4,165 feet, while Mescalito (5,352 ft) and Brownstone Wall (6,040 ft) lie due west at 2.8 miles. Because the overlook faces 20 degrees off due west, the direction points toward the sunset; on the June solstice the sun sets at 20:03, on the equinoxes near 18:40-18:54, and on the December solstice at 16:32. Las Vegas is 16.9 miles east-northeast, North Las Vegas 19.0 miles east-northeast, and Henderson 26.5 miles east-southeast. The previous stop on the byway is the Red Rock Overlook.
