Ripple Creek Overlook

Ripple Creek Overlook sits at 10,049 feet along the Flat Tops Trail Scenic Byway, facing south across terrain that drops 293 feet within 600 meters of the site. The view spans a line of peaks and features to the south: Sable Point at 5.1 miles, Himes Peak at 6.9 miles, Little Marvine Peaks at 7.3 miles, Chinese Wall at 8.3 miles, Trappers Peak at 11.0 miles, Camel Peak at 11.2 miles, Nimerick Point at 12.7 miles, and Shingle Peak at 14.4 miles, ranging in elevation from 9,896 to 11,991 feet. Craig lies 31.6 miles to the north-northwest, Gypsum 36.3 miles south-southeast, and Steamboat Springs 36.9 miles northeast. On the June solstice, sunrise is at 05:41 and sunset at 20:43; on the December solstice, sunrise is at 07:29 and sunset at 16:48. The Dunckley Pass Overlook precedes this stop, and the Ripple Creek Overlook Interpretive Site follows it along the byway. That interpretive site offers picnic facilities and restrooms, though camping is prohibited within a quarter mile of the overlook itself.
