Scenic overlook

This overlook sits along the Seattle to Vashon byway at 162 feet elevation, facing 240 degrees, with the terrain dropping 145 feet within 600 meters. Seattle lies just 0.1 mile to the west-southwest, placing the overlook within the city itself. To the southwest, at a distance of 0.3 mile, are Occidental Square and Comedy Underground, both close to sea level. West-southwest, at 0.4 mile, are the Washington Street Boat Landing and Pioneer Square Habitat Beach, the latter marking the shoreline in view. The facing direction is oriented about 30 degrees off due sunset alignment, meaning the view looks generally toward where the sun sets rather than directly at it. Sunset times vary through the year, from 21:11 at the June solstice to 16:21 at the December solstice, with equinox sunsets falling near 19:09 and 19:22. Bellevue is 6.4 miles to the east, and Tacoma is 25.3 miles to the south-southwest, both well beyond the immediate foreground of the overlook.
