Scenic Overlook

This overlook sits at 1,362 feet along the Talladega Scenic Drive, oriented due north, with the land dropping 357 feet within 600 meters of the vantage point. The view faces north across a series of peaks and hills at varying distances. Iron City Mountain rises to the north-northeast at 6.6 miles, with Muscadine Mountain further north at 6.9 miles. To the north-northwest, a cluster of higher terrain includes Faison Hill, Davis Hill, King Hill, and Stanley Hill, ranging from 7.5 to 8.1 miles out and climbing as high as 1,970 feet at King Hill. Joseph Mountain appears due north at 8.6 miles, while Mount Royal and Peck Hill lie to the northwest at 8.7 and 8.8 miles. Tiger Stadium, a named feature, is visible to the northeast at 8.7 miles. Oxford is the nearest town, located 8.3 miles west-northwest, with Gadsden and Carrollton both over 35 miles away in opposite directions. Daylight hours vary by season, with sunrise as early as 05:34 at the June solstice and sunset as late as 19:57 the same day; December solstice offers the shortest span, from 06:44 to 16:39.
