This overlook sits at 2,997 feet along the Blue Ridge Parkway, facing 150 degrees toward the south-southeast. The terrain drops 226 feet within 600 meters of the viewpoint. Sugarloaf peak is visible to the south-southwest at 2.3 miles, reaching 3,022 feet, while Wheeler Knob rises to 2,040 feet to the south at 2.6 miles. Farther out, a cluster of features appears to the southeast between 11 and 12.3 miles, including the Mount Airy Historic District, Flat Rock Ruritan Park, and two H.B. Rowe park sites. Laurel Hill Farm lies east-southeast at 11 miles, and Cedar Ridge Youth Foundation sits south-southwest at 11.6 miles. Christiansburg is 38.3 miles north-northeast, with Winston-Salem 46 miles and Kernersville 51.1 miles to the southeast. Sunrise and sunset times vary by season: around 7:27 a.m. and 7:35 p.m. at the March equinox, 6:05 a.m. and 8:45 p.m. at the June solstice, 7:11 a.m. and 7:22 p.m. at the September equinox, and 7:32 a.m. and 5:11 p.m. at the December solstice.
