Close in, Wineglass, Palisades, Roundtop, Rugged Crest Palisades, and Mazama Rock lie to the north and north-northwest, within about 2.3 miles. Farther out, Llao Rock rises to 8,036 feet at 4.7 miles west-northwest, with Grouse Hill, Witches Cauldron, Rim of the Crater, Sinnott Memorial, and Merriam Point spread across the west and west-southwest between 4.7 and 5.6 miles. Because the overlook faces the sunset by about 30 degrees off square, the light on these features shifts through the evening; sunset falls near 19:21 at the March equinox, 20:51 at the June solstice, 19:07 at the September equinox, and 16:37 at the December solstice. Chiloquin is 27.3 miles to the south-southeast, Butte Falls 38.4 miles southwest, and Crescent 39.7 miles north-northeast.
