Terrapin Point sits at the western tip of Goat Island in Niagara Falls, New York, next to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. It is one of two major observation areas overlooking the falls and lower Niagara Gorge on the New York side, the other being Prospect Point further downriver. The overlook faces south at an elevation of 480 feet, with the terrain dropping 234 feet within 600 meters of the point. Niagara Falls is 0.7 miles east-northeast, with Amherst 15.6 miles east-southeast and Buffalo 16.7 miles southeast. On the Great Lakes Seaway Trail, this stop follows the Bridge overlook and precedes Skylon Tower. Sunrise and sunset times vary through the year: around 7:21 am to 7:29 pm at the March equinox, 5:38 am to 9:00 pm at the June solstice, 7:04 am to 7:16 pm at the September equinox, and 7:45 am to 4:45 pm at the December solstice.
