Rattlesnake Point is visible to the north at 7.0 miles, rising to 3,104 feet. To the east and southeast, the outlook overlooks lower terrain including Poortown Mountain, Turkey Mountain, Slaughter Mountain, and Mason Mountain, along with the Sperryville Historic District 4.6 miles east. Because the overlook faces toward sunrise, roughly 30 degrees off square, morning light crosses the scene directly; on the June solstice the sun rises at 5:50 AM, and on the December solstice sunrise is at 7:28 AM. Culpeper lies 21.0 miles southeast, Harrisonburg 33.2 miles west-southwest, and Winchester 37.7 miles north-northeast. Tunnel Overlook precedes this stop, and Buck Hollow Overlook follows along the byway.
