This overlook on Route 112 Scenic Byway sits at 1,273 feet and faces west (240°), with the land dropping 619 feet within 600 meters of the pullout. The Bridge of Flowers and Salmon Falls Potholes lie to the southwest at 1.5 miles, both near 420 feet elevation, while Veterans Memorial Field is visible south-southwest at 1.7 miles. Farther out, a line of hills and peaks rises above the valley floor: Goodnow Hill, Johnson Hill, Putnam Hill, Flag Mountain, and Moonshine Hill, ranging from about 1,013 to 1,545 feet and spanning 2.3 to 3.8 miles to the southwest and west-southwest. Walnut Hill Woods and a feature labeled Vclt Ce also appear within this same westward arc. Because the view faces close to sunset direction, the light near evening comes in low across this terrain; sunset times range from about 16:21 in December to 20:33 in June. The nearest towns are well beyond visual range for named features, with Pittsfield 29.6 miles west-southwest, Chicopee 33.1 miles south, and Springfield 36.4 miles south.
