The east platform at Wildcat Canyon sits at 542 feet along the Illinois River Road, facing 330 degrees toward the northwest. The terrain drops 97 feet within 600 meters of the overlook. Carey Memorial Park is visible to the northwest at a distance of 2.3 miles, sitting at 480 feet elevation. Farther out, the Pecumsaugan Creek - Blackball Mines Nature Preserve lies west-northwest, 3.5 miles away at 580 feet. The nearest towns are well removed from the site: Oswego is 41.3 miles to the northeast, with Aurora and Batavia further along the same direction at 46.1 and 50.6 miles. This overlook falls between the Wildcat Canyon - west platform and French Canyon along the route.
